Leading Events Company Trusts It’s Staff

Scotland’s leading event creation and management company has been acquired by it’s employees.

Control of Maximillion Events passed to staff through an Employee Ownership Trust which will hold a controlling interest and function for the benefit of the workers.

Founder and Director John Strachan chose the EOT route for an exit and reflected “From modest beginnings, Maximillion has become Scotland’s longest established, most successful and best regarded event management business.  This positive 36 year journey is attributable to the hard work and dedication of the team, and it is fitting that the team should now take ownership through an EOT.  It’s a great outcome and I am delighted for everyone involved.”

Since its launch in 1989, Maximillion has delivered more than 5,000 high profile events and conferences for more than a quarter of a million guests in Scotland, London, Manchester and Birmingham.  Services range from event planning to conference delivery, team building and entertainment packages.

Managing Director Sarah Esslemont said this was the right move at the right time for the company. “It’s an exciting opportunity to continue to build on the strengths that Maximillion has. Be it through developing existing relationships, growing new business opportunities, evolving our range of products and services, whilst providing the Team with the opportunity to think differently and grow the business”.

Ownership & Engagement

The Employee Ownership Trust (EOT) was introduced in 2014 as a vehicle to encourage business owners to consider passing their business to their employees. The Trust becomes the buyer of the shareholdings and holds the shares on behalf of all of the employees.

It’s an ownership structure that has been proven to deliver significant benefits in terms of increased profitability, improved employee engagement and enhanced productivity and customer satisfaction. In the past decade an estimated 2250 businesses have re-structured this way in the UK.
